A Shrewdness of Apes (ASOA) is DC prog, an ambitious three-piece inspired by the likes of Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Yes, and Alice in Chains. Their palate ranges from heavy effects-saturated riffs to intricate odd meter acoustic melodies. They formed in 2013, and since then have relocated from Richmond and have released 5 albums. They've been nominated as finalists in the Hard Rock categories three years in a row in the DC area Wammie awards. With A Shrewdness of Apes, expect the musically unexpected.
Jackie and The Treehorns
Rooted in the basic tenets of rock, Jackie and The Treehorns create music from just outside the nation’s capital in Alexandria, VA and just outside the mainstream. Formed in 2009 and fronted by Steven Rubin under the guise of an altered ego (Jackie) and his band (The Treehorns) the group fight to keep the flames of the rock and/or roll fire lit with inspired original inventiveness.
Jackie and The Treehorns’ music covers a wide sonic palate, taking the listener down familiar paths before detouring towards parts unknown, while Jackie’s lyrics explore topics ranging from celebrity stalkers, robots, serial killers, and hitchhikers to odd phenomena like UFO’s, déjà vu, ghosts, and extraterrestrial party favors.

51 Peg is a synth rock band from the DMV whose cathartic blend of alt and industrial rock is built upon both the analog past and digital future. Inspired by acts such as Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, The Cure and the Deftones, the band has forged it’s own emotional soundscape over the past 25 years.
